-=CYBER QUEST=- (firstgame attempt) by Cyberon Creations
I am happy to anounce that i am now a registered user of Silent Walk
I re-compiled my first game so you can now play one of the best games made with SW v1.1 splash screen free
GAME
I dont think u'll still have to get the patch but just in case
*This patch fixes a few models that didnt render originally.
Place patch in same directory as the CyberQuest folder and extract.
I created dis game on a high-end system so if u got a low-end system u may experience slow frame rate.

The game is near professional quality, just the sound got annoying, such as the sound when you hit the zombies. Also, I couldn't find any ammo. But really good, one of the best SW games made. 9.8/10 |

Woah... a game so good, it deserves a new rating system to describe this awesomeness.
Zandair rating 2.0!
Gameplay: 28/30
Fairly stabdard for a SW game. Combat involved looking around corners for hidden enemies, and searching for some hidden ammo/health. The images that pop up while shooting at the shooting range were pretty...random. Cool. I did feel kinda hopeless at times, however, like I had no control over what was going on.
Design: 29/30
The level design was sweet. It was flawless. The weapon upgrade thing to dual wiled was a neat idea. The 'main menu' interface made it feel like a secret base, and the portals to any part of the game was a neat idea that I used before, and was surprised no one else did. Until now. The turrets on the cieling were cool. The use of models in the game was great, made the game feel more 3-D than most games, which are flat in scenery (everythings within 40 units up in most games, while you have things floating in the sky, tall buildings, ect.) The 1-sided giant walls that you could walk through were really wierd. And at the begining of some levels a UV map of a car shows up and an invisible box blocks the path. Was a car model suposed to be there that didn't render?
Graphics/audio: 27/30
Graphics-The graphically work you did was superb. The retextures, custom models, adn edited guns were great too. You did make a newbie mistake and didn't set collision boxes, so you could walk through large things (like buildings) when you weren't supposed to.
Audio- I have to agree with Jonny, audio could be better. The standard SW sounds weren't too bad, but the short, repetitive music was.
Effort: 9/10
Woah... long, customized, awesomeness... you did a lot more than some of the professionals here.
Total: 94%
For a first game, that's just, well, like Chuck Norris. Keep up the good work! |

Did the skybox work? It was giving trouble on my computer.
What were the models that needed collision boxes?
Did the game render slow?
Yea the sound cud use some variation i'll keep dat in mind4my nex game.
Well, that was a great review, im glad u like the game:D
Im workin on sum models for the next one. I'll post it on work in progress wen its halfway complete. |

The skyboxing was weird. Sometimes it worked, but one time some night sky thing in appeared in the third mission, and it didn't move with the player like a skybox. Also, in the second mission some green...thing... was appearing in front of me and blocked my field of vision to 1 foot.
Pretty much the buildings and other odd shaped or large objects need new collision boxes. You could walk through buildings, which is obviously not what you want to happen.
Yes, the game rendered slow, but it's okay. You packed as much in there as you could, a little lag means a little more effort. |

I posted a patch above that should take care of a few of the problems of missing models that caused the black sky thing in the third mission and the missing van. As well as the missing column should all b there once the patch is applied |

As much as id like to review it and write up somehting, im running out of time so, ill just say a few things...
Damn right one of the best SW games i have ever played. I liked how you added hands to the guns. Im dissapointed that their was a splash screen, but hey, its your first game. I am very much looking forward to your future games as i have agood i dea they are going to be great! I am hoping that you would make a sequel to the game in SW2, but lets not get ahead.
Any ways IT WAS A GREAT GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
overall rating
Graphics: 9 out of 10
Sounds: 7 out of 10
Models: 10 out of 10
textures (models): 9 out of 10 - i like the zombies!
rendering on patched version was faster.
Thats all i really have to say, apart from you should buy Silent Walk and then re compile the game (if you know what i mean) and then re-post it, the experience would be so much better!
Thanks for a great game and keep up the good work! |

Personally, I'd like to see a new game in the contest. But if he doesn't finish Dark Star 1 in time, this'd be a great entry. |

When I'm finished downloading the CyberQuest game, the only new thing in my CQ folder is the CyberQuest Setup and some models. Any suggestions?

OK, here's my review
BEST SW GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was just one flaw. The zombies had too high defence. But that doesn't even matter!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd rate this awesome game a 20/10. This game is even better than Midnight Offices!!!!!!!!!!!! |

@Artex: Calm down! Just because you don't think its the best doesn't mean its not bad! Heck, this game is so much better than most of the stuff on the forum.
@Cyberon: Again, I'm sorry about that. I liked the title, forget where I heard it, made half the game, checked the forum, and then had a 'holy crap' moment. Sorry. |

Just download an installer-making program like Clickteam's Install Creator.
It's free (although they have an annoying "made with install creator" screen at the end.} |

Because Silent Walk games generally have little replay value and are so short, I wouldn't recommend having an installer. I usually just download, play, and delete. Installing just adds an unnecessary step.
Now, if your game has 10+ levels, alternate levels, easter eggs, secret weps... then an installer would beneficial. |

True some of the time. Games like Klingon: Bird of Prey are still very fun to play even after playing them a lot! |

I used winzip for the installer. Wen u put file in a winzip somewhere there is an option to creat an installer for the files.(cant remember where)Plus theres no advert or splash screen or anyting like dat. And i hav the unregistered winzip.exe.
I am working on anoda game but i made a deal wit sum1 to buy SW for me so im waiting. |

not to burst any bubbles but this game could have had a lot more work as could many other SW games. there is no way to really call something made with SW pro (at least not 1.1)but this is defiantly the closest anyone has come. SW games are supposed to be easy and fast to make compared to commercial games, that being said the amount of time the average person would want to spend on one would be about maybe a month or 2 on and off. now yes some people are perfectionists that will spend a year easy but really... why would you? your not making any money off it so yeah if you make an amazing game with one or two glitches so what...me myself i am a perfectionist but my main concern is lvl design (but having decent grafix that look somewhat like what they are is nice to).i also don't sit down for 3 weeks and power through a game then tweak it, i build maybe one or two lvls then take a break maybe start a different game or one in GM but this really helps me keep my sanity as well as my ideas change over time so it would be less repetitive than if i just worked only on that. |
