Just thought I'd make a thread about it in here.

| A really old project that I started a while ago but I was never able to find the time to work on. The game includes you (someone who had their memory blanked), a psychopath, and the psychopath's other "experiments" and toys. More info about this game will be put out soon. |
I suggest you try out the Demo and see the screenshots as well. All of my friends who have tried keep asking "When will it come out?" and saying "I want to play it!" lol, wow people. Is it really that good
And please remember, this site is basically a partner to this site. You may all use my soon to be released file sharing app to upload your games for easy sharing for everyone (I'm just having some issues getting it to work right , but it'll be up soon. I'll make a thread on here when it is).

Alright, first off I would just like to say this is being switched to being made in the UDK. Of course if the new P3D would better fit my needs (would be easier/faster maybe) I'll switch to that. But for now I am doing some work in the UDK.
Here are a few images of my progress. The first is just an overview shot of the city, which is the first scene the player encounters. Yes, I know there's barely anything but I am taking my time and am barely doing anything at all so far until P3D fully comes out. Now it's just designs and concept stuff and this.
First pic:
The next pic is a nice little staircase, not much special there just a staircase.
Second pic:
Third is the little wall between the buildings. If you are someone like me who really likes going into the details of lighting, then you will like seeing all the individual effects here that help make it look so right (reflecting light from the walls of the buildings, the shadow limiting it, etc.)
Third pic:
This last pic I just had to share. It's a small example of the awesome lightmass feature in the UDK. It makes just any material, such as tiles or rock or w/e, have a 3D effect. When you first look it'll look as if it has been built 3D and made as a 3D tile popping up reflecting some of the light. But take a closer look and you'll see that's the lightmass feature at work because the material really is flat and not 3D at all.
Fourth pic:
Here is the logo I just quickly made up in MSPaint. Looks good? Any suggestions? Please supply.
Logo:
I'll give out some more detailed info later on what really happens and what the city scene is for after I develop a bit more.

Um, don't you need to know how to program to use that? I mean, maybe you do know how.
Anyway, it looks great. I learned how to use Unreal ED over a weekend thanks to the great tutorials I got with the UT3 limited edition.
I can't do anything overtly amazing yet, though. |

That's what I love about the UDK, there is no need to learn any programming language to use it. I see one or two people at school going on and on about what they "programmed" with the UDK I have one look at their little levels and laugh so hard when I see they have added a grand total of 0 lines of code.
School is fun!
Also, I fully respect what you are making with the UDK but the best thing I have seen made with it is the Make Something Unreal contest winner "The Haunted". That has a unique gameplay style rather then the plain old Q3/UT FPS. |

Well you can do coding in it, but it's only with the source code. By default it's set to run like UT3 but you can edit and cook the source code to run differently, like disable double-jump or etc.
And the Unreal Kismet is technically coding, but visual. A visual coder which is complete awesomeness and VERY easy to use. |

By the way, I just changed the service for my website so some links might be broken, like the demo link. |

Hmmm... That's good then.
Kisment is really quite easy. I learned a little bit already. It's more like constructing algorithms, rather than coding. Kind of like engine001, if you have used that.
Anyways, great work! |
