Hello, everyone. "Everyone" is still relegated to the same 4-5 people that come here, but please, entertain me. I have not posted in quite a while, probably been months since my last one. However, I really want to return. I understand my promises of Zombie Nation 3, which MAY still be done, but I have lost the old project files when I accidentally formatted the wrong hard drive while building my new computer. I have a proposition, almost a challenge if you will. I call it so uncreatively, the "Thing-a-week" Project.

This is a creative challenge to both myself, and all of you. Making a great game takes a while, that is definitely true. But what if we expedited the process? What if we all sat down, and tried to make the best thing that we could in the window of 7 days? It will be a challenge, and not so much in the technical aspect in that it is tough acquiring a large range of textures and models. It will be a challenge in mindset. What will you do if you run out of great ideas for games? You'll have to just go with whatever comes to mind, even if you're not a huge fan of the concept. My idea is that at the end of each week, we'll have a small compilation of games to play, and as a community we'll download and play each others' games. We'll vote on who had the best game of the week, and keep track of wins.

What do you say? Will you give it a try?

I am tempted, but such a brain donor I am. Let me think about it.

Maybe more on the lines of one a month or one a quarter.

I'm in.
This sounds like an awesome idea :D
But does it have to be in SWR, or can it be in SW2 also ?

I won't force you to participate each week, but the week is the challenge and the week it will stay. Most SW games are made within the total time frame of a month; a quarter of the year is beyond asinine for a little fun thing like this. I understand what you mean, though!

And while I'd prefer to keep things in the same category because SW2 has certain feature advantages over SWR, I think it'd be completely acceptable if you wanted to use one or the other.

For a small game I think SWR probably has greater advantages than SW2, and really they're both quite similar so choice of both platforms would be good. Great idea man, I'm game :D this forum needs some new games popping up regularly!

I am planning on doing a week starting on Wednesday, that way people can work through the weekends. Is Wednesday a good enough "due date" for everyone?

Ironically enough I'm working almost all through that vacation. I've got Christmas and New Years off, and that's it.
