Introduction

Despair is a game I have been working on in the background while Silent Walk Renaissance was being developed. I now have plenty of textures and models to use for my game so here's the updated work in progress thread to showcase my project.

Features

High resolution textures...
Amazing 3D models...
Atmospheric sound effects...
Realistic lighting effects...
Breakable objects...
Custom weapons...
Working Flashlight...
Diaries, notes and files...
Much more...

Nice I like it. The sounds are particularly atmospheric. Kinda has the run down asylum feel

Wow, this is really good. Actually I was even disappointed at how short it was. I certainly would like to see it finished.

Thanks for all your kind words guys. I'm updating the game once again and in the first post you can see a new screenshot showing off some models and textures as well as the lighting effects I'll be using. Stay scared!

I have updated the first post with a NEW demo. It's just showing off one of the rooms and what you can expect. I'm trying to make things look a little realistic as possible, at least within SWR's limits.

Yeah the door needs some resizing but the height is realistic of an adult. Any lower and you look like a child or short person. When the door is a little higher it'll be fine :)

Nice, very atmospheric. All the textures that aren't to the power of 2 f*** up for me though, does anyone else get this problem?

It's just cause my graphics card is s*** I think
Image
If the textures aren't square they just well, don't map well and disappear... or they have to be 256x256, 512x512, 1024x1024 [power of two].
I think just square ones work though e.g 400x400

That's certainly strange. Never had an issue myself. Probably is the graphics. Is it an old card or an onboard card?

onboard. I think it's a known issue with gm, not 100% sure. Try re-sizing your textures to a square value?

Screw that. I'll let Zoltan fix the issue :P

Textures are all UV Mapped correctly on models and there's no way I'm gonna attempt to re-do them xD

let zoltan fix it?
lol fix what, his bad graph card?

Ynyr on my laptop i have the same problem... all weird looking textures.. it's a old laptop though..
But on my pc everything is just fine.

So to get back to aydan, how would zoltan fix this?
I also thought it had something to do with GM.

EDIT:

Found in Gm manual:

Sizes of textures must be powers of 2 (so e.g. 32x32 or 64x64). If you want to use sprites or background as textures you better make sure they have such a size. If not, the test will be blank. To find out which part of the texture is actually used you can use the following two functions. They return a value between 0 and 1 that indicates the width or height of the actual part of the texture being used. Specifying this value as texture coordinate will indicate the right or bottom side of the texture.

Looked fine for me. So this game is set in the USSR or something (judging by that poster)? Soviet horror is usually pretty cool.
