If you like music, you might be interested in this new tool, Retrostica. This is a complex digital synthesizer with high quality analog sounds with a built-in song editor.
I am releasing this as a commercial product, however there is a demo version available.

you are starting to have quite the collection of software here

this looks neat, does this function as a vst? like could someone import a midi into this and apply effects to it? or is it more of a drum machine plus sounds sort of thing? and can the user import their own sounds?

Yeah, thanks. :)

This is really a very simple virtual synth, you cannot use it as VSTi or connect to any music software.
The goal was different, to create an easy to use, user friendly synth, which works immediately when you run it, without any complicated configurations.
You cannot use custom sounds, but you can make (record or edit) your own music or rhythms using the built-in Song Editor.

Sometimes when I have a few minutes of free time, but I am tired enough for serious work, I like to try out small and easy programs. Retrostica is one of them. :)

this actually looks very interesting. i'm d/l now. do you think you would add more instruments later. like strings or brass? i'm more interested in real sounding instruments than techno stuff.

Thanks for playing with Retrostica.

I'll fix some of the issues and bugs, then I try to come up with some ideas how to use some classic sounds instead of the techno stuff.

that would be great to have some actual instrument sounds. the piano sounds great as is :D

the demo version just has a keyboard. the paid version had that point and click editor like in the video, right?

I've uploaded a new demo.

All features and sounds are available except the saving, and sound quality is reduced to 8 bit mono.
The Song Editor is also available.

It works great! Nice solution you got there. :D

Could you provide a manual in PDF format? For example it is not very clear which keys must be used for the song editor.

A manual or small guide would certainly help.

Yes, I will need to create the manual.

I try to make a short one today.

EDIT: Here is User Manual:

Thank you!

Is it possible to save the song to .mp3 or .wav format?

Unfortunatelly it is not possible directly from the program, but you can record the output. I've also used this method, when I was recording the demo songs.

1. I am using URL is hidden from guests, please register and login to view the hyperlink to record the songs (it has a Free Version on the site)
2. Enable the wave out on the sound mixer
3. Start a new recording in WavPad
4. Play your song
5. Save it as wav or mp3

:)

Thank you. I will try it.

Would it be possible to add this feature into Retrostica so you don't have to install third-party software?

Hmm...can't install Wavepad. Kaspersky Antivirus warns about possible trojan detection.

Are there free alternatives for Wavepad?

I guess URL is hidden from guests, please register and login to view the hyperlink is free.

I'll definitely make some research on how to export the songs to wav or mp3, as I also need this feature for creating small loops for games.

Thanks for effort! I appreciate it.

When exporting .wav the application crashes. The application runs under Windows 7 64bit.

Did some more tests.

If the song not is saved and it is exported to .wav it crashes.

When the song the saved it doesn't crash when exporting.
